The Student Government Association (SGA) encourages student involvement across the campus.

Voting opens at 12 p.m. on April 1 and closes at 12 p.m. on April 3, 2026. Ballot links will be emailed to all enrolled students—don’t miss your chance to choose the peers who will represent you on campus.

SGA plays a vital role as the official voice of the student body, advocating for student needs, promoting involvement, and working alongside campus leadership to influence decisions that enhance the overall student experience.

The Student Government Association is made up of 12 elected members. Any student can join SGA by attending at least three meetings to be officially recognized as a voting member.

All candidates who are seeking office are required to hold a minimum of 2.5 cumulative GPA and be enrolled in at least nine credit hours. Eligibility requirements vary by position, and students can run for a range of elected leadership roles. Positions on the ballot include:

  • SGA Executive Board: President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, Parliamentarian, and Public Relations & Outreach Coordinator
  • SGA Senator Seats: Cultural Excellence, Athletic, Disability Support, High School, and Non-Traditional
  • Student Trustee: Serves as the official student representative on the Rock Valley College Board of Trustees.

In addition to representing students, the SGA makes a meaningful impact on campus through various efforts. Officers and representatives visit classrooms through Operation Classroom to share information about clubs, SGA initiatives, and open positions.

The SGA also helped launch the Intramural Sports Program, giving students of all levels the chance to stay active, enjoy their favorite sports, and build community. Connect with SGA and make a difference! Participate in their weekly meetings every Tuesday from 2:30 to 4 p.m. in the Stenstrom Student Center, Room 0102.

Your voice matters, and the Student Government Association is here to make sure it’s heard. SGA works to create an inclusive campus community for all students by serving on advisory committees, providing forums for students to share concerns or ideas, promoting programs that support student success, and guiding new clubs and organizations. Cast your vote in the upcoming elections to help shape the 2026–2027 academic year. Election results will be announced on April 3, 2026, by 5 p.m. Learn more about the Student Government Association
